I saw The Prestige again. This is a film that really does benefit from being watched twice[1]. It's intricate, so many small touches and scenes only give their full meaning when you know what's going to happen. I don't know if I want to watch it *again*, that might be too much, but it is very well done.

The first time, I actually had difficulty telling Angier and Borden apart, when they had similar clothes and often similar attitudes, and that was *really* confusing :) In fact, Hugh Jackman seems to do very well. Angier *is* fey at times, but is a totally different character to Wolverine and Van Helsing.

[1] Not that films needing watching twice are necessarily better. Pros: contain more stuff; entertain for longer; give too different experiences. Cons: some repetition; sometimes you don't want to work hard. Not saying either is right but both have strengths.

I love the Prestige, it's one of my favorite films. I certainly agree that it needs watching twice, which'll allow you to appreciate it in two different ways. I also kicked myself for not figuring out Borden's 'prestige' much earlier - the second time through it's made startlingly clear from the very beginning.

It's a great film with a stellar cast (Michael Caine, Chistopher Bale, Hugh Jackman, and even David Bowie).

I kicked myself all the way through really. I saw the sort of things going on, but didn't really guess anything. I think I forsaw some vital twist, but can't remember what.

You'd probably like it. I'll have to start saying what films amazon rentals have sent me recently.

It is really worth watching particularly the pairing of Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as friends, bitter rivals with murder i mind. The performances are excellent - the period sets the film off wonderfully and there is a great script.

Rent it and watch it - bet you will want another look at it too. fortunately I have the DVD and I have snuck back and watched since release including at the theatre four times. Watch closely it very well worthwhile and a film that rewards you. I cannot believe that anyone could possibly mix up Hugh and Christian their appearance, their actions, their personalities and even wardrobe were completely different.
