I have two further spontaneous compliments to my hat, and further experience that wearing hat suits just about everyone, which I'm still surprised by. Do other people with hats have the same experience?

I frequently get spontaneous hat compliments from people I don't know in the least.

My mum doesn't wear hats: they almost invariably make her look like a mad lady.

My hat is woolly and tends to ride up and go all pointy on top and make me look like garden gnome. Not a good look :)

I've come to the conclusion that most male outfits can have their essential character accentuated by wearing a fedora.

When wearing my fedora, I get a combination of occasional slightly funny looks and compliments (though rarely from complete strangers). On the whole the experience seems to be positive.
