Gacked from lots of people:
We all have things about our friends that make us slightly envious. Not in a bad way, but in a "Wow! I wish I had that person's hair, eyes, money, relationship, toe nails, whatever."

So tell me what about me makes you envy me (cheap-ass ego boost/comment whoring, I know), then post this in your LJ and see what makes me envious of you!

Edited just to remove multiple '!'.

Update: Off to meeting, replies to comments in a minute.
Update: Back. And thanks to everyone, I feel really lucky now. You're all really sweet. Please, glom the meme for yourselves!

Money. Aye. I could do with more money.

Can you post a picture/description of your toenails so I know whether to envy them? Mine are slightly ingrowing so I'm prepared to be envious of nice ones.

Can you post a picture/description of your toenail

I'd rather not. But they generally work and don't do anything annoying but get long or dirty. In fact, I'm generally greateful for health. *hugs flurble toenail*

Multi-talented-ness. Who else could do a Part III Maths course and then have enough active brain cells left to write damn good fanfic too?

Your livejournal. No, seriously. I can't even write "nice day today" without getting flamed, and yet you manage to fill yours with witty, insightful observations on a regular basis. It's a pleasure to read :)

(If I knew you better than I'd prolly be able to put more on here!)

No, thank you. I'm really glad it does turn out to be interesting.

I can't even write "nice day today" without getting flamed,

LOL. Oh dear. Is it that bad?

Oooh, parteh. I'd love to, but alas I'm already triple-booked on account of it being the Missus' birthday, foo-annual visit to her parents and, by George, the feast day of our national saint. Tell me the occasion and I'll raise a glass to you wherever I am though!

Um, your natural ability at maths, your talent for huggling when it's most needed, the way you can beta really effectively without making me feel bad about my writing, your interest in such a wide range of subjects... *pauses to breathe* That enought for now?

No, I tend to like the same sort of things you read!

Oh, I see. Got you :)

That's true, your opinion of Cryptonomicon alone is enough to make it true :)

But otoh tastes are perhaps more defined by fiction that fewer people like. I read reams of Piers Anthony and very early Asimov and generic fantasy, which perhaps defines me more than what genuinely good books I read. (Though I'm getting fed up with trash now :)) I know Risa shares the Piers weakness. And sonicdrift always amazes me in having read the same lesser known books: I think Hornblower and Dianna Wynn Jones, which most people are only vaguely aware of, but I can rely on her to love too :)

I was really into Diana Wynne Jones a while back, though I never got into Piers Anthony (by the time I was into fantasy proper the anti-Piers sentiment from the Pratchett community had leaked into my mind..)

Ooh, thank you. That means a lot to me. I didn't think anyone read it :)

Though, for some reason, I assume you'd be good at fiction if you wrote. I'm not sure why I think that.

So far, I have written about one session report in the style in which I would write fiction. It wasn't very good, and took a long time.

Yes, this is a slightly silly answer, but most of the good sincere ones had already been done. :)
