Genetico/Threeplex
Sep. 8th, 2011 07:12 pmI recently reread a Ken Follet thriller, The Third Twin, that I read as a teenager. It was reasonably good.
However, the weird thing is, in one edition the name of the main character's boss' company was 'Genetico' and in the other 'Threeplex'. Originally it had sounded perfectly sensible, but the other name just sounded really goofy, and I either just glossed over it without realising the company they were talking about, or it brought me out of immersion.
But I can't tell if that's because (i) one name is objectively sillier (I couldn't tell which version was earlier) (ii) when I first read it, I was able to get more emotionally involved with a book, so the name I was used to brought those associations back and the other didn't, (iii) I just didn't like the change
