Sunday Assembly

The sundayassembly.com is the most recent atheist church there were a few news articles about. Apparently there is an event in Cambridge (Sunday Oct 27th AM). The organisation seems well meaning but vague. There was a cambridge news article, but it didn't really notice this was a one-off event, not a regular event. Does anyone know anything more about them?

I'm not sure about the Cambridge one but I know the chap who runs the London ones (I knew him about six years ago before he changed his name and became a standup comic).

I went to their show in Edinburgh and I think "well-meaning but vague" is about right. There was a lot of singing along with '80s pop songs, a pattycake game and lots of very very enthusiastic jumping up and down and exhorting. It was a bit like a wedding reception for the child of a happy clappy cult preacher.

AFAIK this is mostly a tour by the main London people, the forum suggests local people in Cambridge may be organising a venue, but there doesn't (yet) seem to be an ongoing organisation in Cambridge. The website says there is in a couple of other cities, I don't know what they're like.
