Advantages of middle-endian (MM/DD/YY) dates:

• 3/14/15 is an extra-special Pi Day

Advantages of ISO standard (YYYY-MM-DD) dates:

• Everything else.

I'm not sure about the year. Instinctively, I want it to be greatest significant value first. And that way it's unambiguous, because no-one is using YYYY-DD-MM but some people do use MM-DD-YYYY. (Or have I misunderstood, does "mm" mean "jan, feb"?)

But I agree, letting months would be a LOT better!
