On friday I had people round for dinner. I'd hoped to do something for Pippa, because she's lovely, hasn't seen my flat yet, and needs making well again, but she wasn't up to it, so the guest list seemlessly changed until I ended up inviting [livejournal.com profile] atreic and [livejournal.com profile] emperor and [livejournal.com profile] ewx and [livejournal.com profile] naath.

Unless they contradict me, I think it was very fun. People spontaneously praised the food, though there was slightly too much. We sent out for wine a couple of times and finished the last meadith mead. We had boisterous conversation, spending not too long on drama doom. We played Articulate, reasonably balancedly.

We played I Have Never, which was quite amusing, occasionally produced "Huh? Who are you two talking about?" looks, and "Wow, you *have* slept with 2/3 of the sgo" looks. I had more difficulty finding things I hadn't done, though once had to go kiss someone the next day to square things up (though I was good and that was the only kiss all day).

It was soon enough since the last time I had anyone round that I hadn't much tidying up to do before. There was bake left over which makes good breakfast.

Sounds like good fun. :-)

Speaking of mead, I have a reliable source up in the Lake District, where I go to visit my parents now and again. I won't be up at Christmas because Mum will probably still be recovering from her assorted-bits-ectomy, but I am thinking of going in January and will be taking orders for mead at that point. Just to let you know!

And it looks as if I'll probably be in Cambridge for IVFDF in February.

I think we have Sally to thank for it, hence to double helping of squee :) Yes, I shall certainly be there.

Meadith (why are all mead fairies so *cuddly*?) recommends Budgen's mead, which seems a good substitute for Moniak.

Ah, but I can get Moniack, as the Mole will confirm. :-)

I need to drink Budgen's when I'm sober enough to appreciate it and decide; Edith seemed to think he was perfectly happy with it. The main drawback is it comes in wine-type bottle instead of a chunky MEAD bottle, but a hip flask can solve that.

Thank you! The company was very good.

Now I just need to do it more often.
