And I didn't get to the festival tonight either. But cuddlybed awaits. And hopefully *tomorrow*.

I finished Prince of Persia (Sands of Time) -- I enjoyed it much and will review in a bit. I may start something else this weekend, that will be fun.

And speaking of writing, what would it be like to live in a matrix deliberately, or at least mostly under control? I realise it's a lot harder to do -- what's the point? What would people do? No need to manufacture, etc, but perhaps still write programs, and interfaces, and fiction and games. But think what it would be like. If whenever it was convenient you could
fork()

Never mind forking, I want pthread_create.

You *have* pthread_create, what you don't have is f. Nor, to be fair, pthread_t and pthread_attr_t outside your computer :)

But there are many ideas along the same lines. Backup? And if you might be able to hack into the address space of anyone you shake hands with, it'd explain why karate is so important in the matrix ;)

I think I only have multithreading in fairly specific domains. (Given what a pig threaded programming can be, perhaps there's a good reason for that.) I want parallel streams of consciousness and operation that nonetheless share all their state without having to engage in some kind of periodic merge operation. (And a pony.)

I think I need a 'geeky' userpic.

(That is, I meant, you have it on your linux box, but you don't have the thread meaning you to start.)

Yeah. Thinking about two things often results in forgetting the state and starting over, even to an infinite loop :( I thought about exploring a multithreaded protagonist in a story, where he never did merge, except that whichever aspect of him found something important took over. So mundanely, he could be talking to you while simultaneously watching for something to happen all about him, but if you want to get geeky could efficiently factor things ;)
