Munchkin

Went to the carlton. Chatted to Mark about Gruntz (anyone recommend another Mary Gentle book to try?), met a cuddly ghoti and talked about nanowrimo, ignored emperor and fanf talking about tech.

Then I got kidnapped by [livejournal.com profile] calamarain and friends ("Oh, you're [livejournal.com profile] kitsunenine") and forced to play Munchkin, which was very good. I still need to dither less and pay attention to classes and races. but with most of the others I was at 9 levels for most of the endgame.

It was also very amusing because they had some brand spanking new custom cards like the Hairy Buttocks and GM's Girlfriend, which seemed to fit quite well.

This meant I didn't get much nano done. However, I had my usual idea (insert a narrator), so we'll see if that gets it going better tonight.

Update: And we also had the moment when [livejournal.com profile] gerald_duck and I stare at each other and go "How do you know these people?" :)

Having finished the Kushiel trilogy, I started again.

The trouble was, I read the beginning of Kushiel's Dart in Border's, and didn't re-read it once I decided to like the series, so I was a bit vague all the way through on the 'mythology'. And I was sort of confused by the politics for that matter :)

Now I re-read it, and was going "Oooh! That's what happened to Elua."

It's an interesting mix actually, reminiscent of ancient Christianity/Judaism; there is a one god, but lots of angels/lesser gods/other gods/spirits. And like the history, it diverged from ours ages ago; Jesuites, followers of Jesua, are another sect, and the people concentrate on Elua and his Companions.

In fact, a little like I was going to do. Doh.

Yesterday:

* Beat people 10-0 at table football.

* Lost 10-0 at table football.

* Played lots of stupid variants with too many balls on the table.

Today:

* Did OK cupid quizzes. Winked at by girl in london. Looked at profile. Gah, naked frontal pictures not normally work safe.

* Went through inbox. By pruning detritus left there from before the move to gmail, and by moving some things from "inbox" to an item in the "todo", got my inbox below ten messages. Need to do Reeve introduction for Joy.

* Checked powergen. Direct debit seems to be working, but I need to take a meter reading.

Tomorrow:

* Mum is visiting. It will be lovely to see her again, and catch up on everything, and talk to someone who loves me *whatever*. I'm buying her a DVD player for her birthday.

* Tomorrow we're going to a friend's sister's firework party at his original home in Sawston.

I finished stuff at work and spent an hour writing (mostly abandoning the bit previous). 1300 words. Not very impressive yet, but it feels right, and there's lots more I know what's going to happen. If I can keep this rate up I should have something worth having.

OK, off to meet [livejournal.com profile] rcv1.
