It appears I am not very heroic :( But combine twincest in one person :( OTOH, I guess I don't randomly die so much :)

Castor & Polydeuces

You scored 49 in heroism! For your hero's story visit

(AKA Castor and Pollux) These twins really only came in a pair, so let's just say that you're both of them. That said, you're skilled in some pretty neat everyday stuff - like taming horses or boxing - but you will also do anything to help your family. You are also very inspirational to others, and take well to neat places like the sea or space.

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 6% on heroism.

* We had the science park fun run for some charity or other. The inner lane of the big circle was coned off. About thirty of us were pressed into service as marshalls to direct traffic from all the drives into the outer one, in the correct direction, dressed in stylish yellow neon binbags.
* We had to balance on one leg in a crane kick stance on the cone, directing cars with one arm and runners with the other.
* An hour's delay while a lorry went round setting out the cones.
* Lots of (or maybe one or two several times) guys in Terry Wogan masks
* A poor french driver who'd grasped "turn right" but not "on the outer lane." But it was fine.
* A pirate ship cum canoe cum eight.
* People all obeyed. There's no real mechanism for seeing if some guy in a yellow jacket is for real or not.
* I was describing this to someone else, and they said "Oh, you were literally" directing traffic.

Saturday was busy. Firstly shopping, then dropped in to [livejournal.com profile] hoiho's birthday drinks.

Dave Knipe was back in cambridge for a conference, and rang me about then, and I squeezed in meeting him and Dave Collier, [livejournal.com profile] uqx and [livejournal.com profile] wednesdayschild.

I was going to go to poohsoc, but decided I didn't have time, so dropped in to [livejournal.com profile] numberland's for half an hour.

Then it was off to the foreyule feast. There was lots of alcohol, wonderful vegetarian food, pretty people, restrained affection, beer and mead (I had my hip flask).

On sunday, there was post-foreyule lunch, then dinner at [livejournal.com profile] beckyc's, then to see Susannah Clarke guest speaking at CUSFS. We finished the left-out footnote she read at worldcon, and answered some other questions.
