This week I have fallen a bit behind with keeping update a list of things I have to do, and have felt correspondingly nervous (though pleased that one big thing, work, was successful -- now I can encode FRAMES of video! Multiple of them!).

You may have noticed my regular positive status reports fell by the wayside, a little warning sign to me :)

In fact, I should do that more often. I can post status reports

Snowed underness level: low
Depression: low
Official girlfriends: none

And then whenever I *don't* people can come and ask me what the gossip is, thus providing them with an automatic nosiness feature, and me with people to press[1] me.

Anyway, this morning I sorted through the weeks lumped together undone tasks, and it's not so bad at all for a weekend. Knowing that feels very freeing, I should have time to do plenty, go for some walks, and have evening parties.

I'm going out shopping now, I may be at beerfest in afternoon.

[1] Is that the opposite of depress?

Do you think prospective/unofficial girlfriends might be put off by your clear plan to have more than one? ;)

*LOL*

But surely this is the stereotype of the geeks I've met- bi/poly/goth/otherwise alternative/kinky seems to go hand-in-hand with being a geek these days...;)

Yeah. Though it's not everyone, I think it's just become somewhat common amongst people I know, and the non-poly are less vocal about it.

Possibly the reasons people do are:

* Socially liberal, and slow to judge, so tendencies to be poly/kinky/whatever aren't repressed but celebrated
* Didn't have any boyfriends/girlfriends at school, so want to make up for it
* Everyone wears black, so you're half way there already
* We don't fit in anyway, so feel able and obliged to live up to that image

Heh. I became a geek rather than always having been one (although the nature was always there), but I can see where you're coming from. #2 and #4 don't apply to me but I *do* have a lot of black. Hmm...well, any excuse for debauchery, eh? ;)

Classics geeks are quite similar to techy geeks, really, aren't they? :) Equal amounts of bi/poly/goth/otherwise alternative/kinky, AFAICT anyway ;)

It could be a binary field, 0 or 1. And even if I never intend it, there's no reason not to have a configurable database -- I might adapt that field to list something multiple, or I might lend it to someone polygamous, or I might experience a pulse collision in transactional integrity[1] or I might have big orgies of nonbinaryness... :)

But in fact, at the moment there are no prospectives, only people like you who are good friends and occasional snuggling, and have no right to complain .

[1] Eg. If at time T I stop having[2] girlfriend #1 and start having girlfriend #2, I should decrement and increment the field, but if i get those in the wrong order it won't work. But (a) it's not really in a database and (b) doing anything behind someone's back[2] is what I really really won't do.
[2] No sniggering.

How delightfully geeky! I have this image of a RDBMS with girlfriends and one-to-many associations.

I might have big orgies of nonbinaryness...

Hurrah! Sounds like fun. So does that mean that rather than a Boolean, it would be like a big array of variables? :P

Oh yes, count me in too :)

a big array of variables

Ooh, I like a man with a big array of variables :P

Indeed. Though the graph should probably have connections between nodes in [0,1], not just {0,1}.

*has geeky clasicists orgy with uisgebeatha and rochvelleth&

a pulse collision in transactional integrity

That sounded much kinkier before you explained it! ;)
