I am considering a christmas party, hopefully on the 18th November (two weeks last saturday). I know a few friends are busy then, does anyone know if that's a particularly bad date (ie. there would be a better one :)).

If it seems ok, I'll invite people (anyone on my friendslist, or anyone I know is likley to be very welcome, even if I don't know you well).

18th of what month? I'm guessing November.

Sorry, yes. *edits*. I did put a relative pointer in brackets :)

LOL. I'm sure we're in the habit of sentences considerably more nested than that... :)

I am now triple-booked then, as I'm going to [livejournal.com profile] claerwen's birthday party and have also been invited to a Taize service in Westminster. I could try coming along after dinner I guess. :)

[grins] That's my booking for that day too. Though that makes me be nearer Cambridge that I would otherwise be. My brain also objects to a party in November being described as `Christmas'. I'm not happy at having been invited to a Chaplaincy Christmas party on 13th December even!

'Tis the season to be commercial

'Tis a shame I'm missing the Taize thing- I'd be interested to hear how it goes!

I have to agree wrt the early Christmas thing. I'm getting distressed at the fact that the town lights are up already and shops are all Christmassy! :)

Yeah, I know, I'm not sure why I thought that way.

I think that it's the christmas *term* party. I have a party not oftener than every few months, and wanted something at the end of temr, so I want a label to identify it; if I wanted a party *for christmas* I would aim for late december.

Am I forgiven? At least a little? :)

I didn't expect you to be free and up to it -- whenever it was you'd probably have to give something up :) If it happens it'll probably be late, so you could come on the way back :)

I was going to comment on why it might be a terrible weekend as there are two other things I might be doing, or might be a good weekend if I find myself wanting to be in the North of England on the Sunday, but then I realised I'm mostly scared of parties anyway

*hug* It would be lovely to see you. And you're obviously very welcome. But surely meeting for coffee is both easier and more enjoyable than trying to get here for a party? :)

Whatever you want, my dear. Though, you're very welcome to come *here* and use my spare bed and wireless and drink real proper free tasty jack coffee -- I just thought when there was a party on might not be the most efficient time for you to do so, depending whether you currently feel the you don't socialise enough with (a) lots of geeks or (b) good friends :)

I think I heard of this socialising thing somewhere. Isn't it meant to be like IRC and LJ, but in 3-D? Imagine that.

The content can be questionate but the rendering is amazing. And as for the force-feedback, very pleasurable.

Might be able to do that... will probably be wibbling about wedding stress though.

I'll have temporarily fled the country on that day.

Is the friday any better?

No, that's good! Uh, that is, obviously it's *strictly* worse, but it means I can say "Well, never mind, you can't come to all my parties, obviously, a shame, but there you go" which has to happen sooner or later, rather than "Oh dear, I'd best have more scheduling faff" which makes a slightly better day but is a lot of faff to do :)

Where are you off to? Have fun!

It's folkie formal that evening (although at the moment there are all of 5 people going *goes off to advertise*)

Ah, yes. I think that has to be accepted, there's not that much overlap.

I could actually make the 18th, although I seem to be the only one ;)

That is, if you'll have me?

Cool. Yes, you'd be welcome -- some of your friends are on my friendslist as well for that matter, they're all welcome.

I don't know if it's as bad as it sounds -- most people who are busy probably couldn't come anyway. I just haven't heard from anyone I know who *can*. But I'll probably go ahead.

I've been invited to a house-warming where there's a good chance I'll pull. You are now officially competing, I want pictures and stats on all the boys attending...

ROFL. I didn't expect you to be able to come. Are we still on for a drink next week anyway?

Oh, ok, go on then. Stats. There's a geek height chart at Relativity. The majority of people are a bit bdsmy when you get to know them, not sure if people tend to swing up or down more. Some are definitely cute, and can probably be persuaded to get off with a beautiful girl with her own boat. There's bound to be *some* lesbian action, I'll expect you to make a token effort at least. There are a couple of people older and/or nice-but-incredibly-forceful.

Though I don't know yet who *can* come. I'll be there :)
