I'm supposed to bring a dessert to a party on Sat. I will buy something from Marks and Spencer's. But it feels like a complete cop-out not to even try to make one.

I've never made sweet things, all my cooking has been main-course-y, because desert is nice, but I don't care as much as some people. So I might yet try. It should ideally be moist and made ENTIRELY OUT OF LEMONS.

Does anyone want to help me on sat aft...??

But dessert is the most important part of a meal?!

Actually, if i cook I cook puddings, as they're more fun to eat. I might be giving moral support for a viva on saturday though, if not I can come over with my copy of Delia's how to cook.

If you get stuck I have a easy pudding for all occasions:
Weight n eggs (3 for a medium cake). Dump an equal mass of flour, sugar and butter into a bowl with the broken eggs minus shells. Add lemons/chocolate/almost ex-apples/syrup/whatever themed pudding you're making. Mix, preferably with electricity. Bake 1/2 hourish at 200Cish until the centre isn't liquid.

If you're really feeling fancy you can whip the egg whites first.

Family recipe. My Mum has the same attitude to the amount of time that should be spent in a kitchen as me :)

LOL. Yes. That's part of it -- many people do, so plenty of nice puddings naturally appear, and, while I like puddings a lot, I like them less than many people, so it made sense to me to concentrate on main courses first :)

Oh, thank you, that's sweet. And for the recipe: I always like your explanations very much, they make things so explicable :)

I may try (and either way will buy cake, so as I said to mum I am not betting success on baking, but that if it happens to go well, I can take it to people who will enjoy it), I'll see how I feel on sat.

Oh, whose viva? Um, pass on good luck!
