Holy flarking shit, it's cold outside. There may or may not have been any kind of atmosphere, I didn't stop to see.

Pedant note: Yes, this is more than one line, but only because of the pedant note.

Pedant note: In actual fact, there was atmosphere (defined as gravitationally bound gas, including approx 20% ox, 80% inert), as I can deduce from a variety of retrospective clues, such as the absence of exploding eyeballs, etc. This is a rhetorical technique, exaggerating an effect to create a feeling of, as well as knowledge of, its significance.

Many rhetorical techniques use counter-factual, or perhaps a-factual statements, but can be described as "not wrong" because although they convey less literal truth, they often convey more of an underlying, more relevant truth.

Pedant note: This was last night. This morning it was quite nice, and right now I don't know, because I'm inside.

http://www.srcf.ucam.org/round/ceilidh says there is a Ceilidh on 24 November. I might be in London that day. I am contemplating it.

They're generally pretty accurate about that sort of thing, I expect they're right :) FWIW, I'll probably be going, and if you want to come you're welcome to crash at mine again.

I already asked [livejournal.com profile] robhu about spare bed space, but I have books to swap with you if I come to Cambridge ...

Of course, can you remind me which?

I still have your box of books, I gave away lots, but am still waiting to getting round to taking it to oxfam, so if there's anything else you want back you can :)

*Did* you stay? I assume people will have to when they say that, but I suddenly realised I didn't speak to you after that. And I totally missed the ceilidh myself, I was busy/doomed that weekend.

I don't think I've heard / read you swear before.

Oh, I didn't think I swore very little. I never used to when I was young, and now I try to avoid it, except for humorous effect -- if I'm actually upset, profanity just makes it seem worse. See http://www.ljseek.com/fuck_s4Zucartesiandaemon.html, for instance.

Unsurprisingly, many of the titles in that list are amusing.

"GLBT MPAA FUCK ELEPANT CRUSHING"

"Dude, you totally have balls of steel. You're so cool, you like have balls of radon, man"

"Wow, I use the word 'dick' a lot."

Has your phone number changed?
Abandoning telephonic communications - will you be able to come to the Party Woo? I do hope so. There will be various games of a board and card nature, and also much cake, as there are at least two birthdays being celebrated as well as a passing-driving-test (none of them mine of course!)

In spite of living opposite, I haven't been to the Carlton for a Thursday since moving in. pah.

*cuddle* My phone number has always been the same (and when/if I'm ever forced to change, I'll no doubt make a big stink on lj :)). Yes, I'm certainly planning to come, I'll see you there. I'm going to a wedding reception and winnie-ther-pooh society extraordinary[1] general meeting, so I'll most likely arrive late in black tie, assuming this is ok :)

Don't worry -- I haven't been at the Carlton most thursdays

[1] And when poohsoc says general meetings are extraordinary they don't mess about. The EGMs may not be irregular, but they're certainly not normal :)
