A man walked into a bar.
Clang!
It was an F̷e.

Oh good, I was afraid it would just totally failed to render. I was particularly looking for a bar as in "h-bar", but couldn't find anything specific. But pretty much any diagonal strike, or bold horizontal hat is called "bar" too.

This joke failed to render in IE. Happily, I saw it earlier in Firefox :-)

:)

For anyone else who can't see it, it's F[bar]e, as in h-bar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck's_constant), as in, "iron bar"...

It renders in IE on my work computer as F[square box]e. Though I've never installed anything helpful for IE, since I never use it, except when I post obscure unicode jokes and want to see if they're cross-browser compatible.

Renders as “F?e” on Firefox 2.0.0.10 and Mac OS X 10.4.11.

One needs to have a font installed that has a glyph for the combining solidus too.

Strangely, it rendered correctly on Firefox 2.0.0.10-ish (I can't remember when in the day Firefox updated itself) on MacOS 10.5.1, but renders as F(small /)e on Firefox 2.0.0.10 on FreeBSD 6.2 here.

Dman, I'm still a geek/physicist at heart. I think those with non-rendering browsers (or the wrong font) were better off :(

Of course, now I just know I'll be a the pub, and someone'll be telling man walks into a bar jokes, and we'll have

P1: "A man walks into a bar."
P2: "CLANG"
P3: "It was an ef-square-box-e!"

*pain* :)

Bwahahaha! Don't you have it when you start something and wish you hadn't? :)

Rendered fine for me, and I had about the perfect amount of confusion before it clicked. :)

Well, yes, but I admit I'm still enjoying the painfulness of the puns so far ;)

No recursing! I hadn't spotted that at all. I've known several rambling jokes, but wonder how deeply nested I could take it before someone baulks... :)
