I felt a little tired today; almost exactly as I did a week ago, just before I got ill, in fact. I just hope that's down to being busy, rather than coming down with something. (I'm fairly sure, in fact.) I didn't feel like drinking, well, not more than a glass of mead, though I had to remind myself that if it feels a bit much, don't sip it quickly to get it out of the way, sip it slowly so it has time to settle :)

However, I finally, finally, got some new glasses. A nicer pair, and a cheaper pair for spare. Though of course, considering the amount of time glasses spend on my face, I can easily justify getting *another* pair if I want it, and mixing and matching. I'm slightly worried by getting them without trying them on in a shop, but I think looking online is very nearly as good, especially when you consider that if you try them on, you can't see what you look like. However, browsing many does give me a feel for what I like and what I don't, whereas previously I just stuck with what I had because they seemed fine and I couldn't be bothered to experiment.

I don't know how they'll turn out -- though I'm excited to try -- but now I feel good as I'm finally, finally ahead of where I was at the end of last year! :) And having got something I meant to do for ages out of the way, I can relax a little for a bit. (Except for getting things done at work.)

if you try them on, you can't see what you look like.

When I first went to Dolland and Aitcheson in Cambridge, I was impressed with their idea of using computers and cameras, so you can actually put your real glasses back on and see what you look like with the new frames (and compare different frames next to each other).

Ah, yes! I'd forgotten, that is/would be by far the best solution. (Although I hope the technology has advanced, I don't want someone hovering, I want to try on lots and lots and start narrowing it down.)

I've been wearing glasses for so long that I hardly need to try them on anyway. A couple of years ago when getting a new pair the optician person handed me some frames to try on, I looked and said 'no, they'll be horrible on me', 'go on, try them, they're really nice' she said.

I tried them on, she practically recoiled in horror and admitted that I was right. :-)

Ah, of course. Well, I've had these for years, but just by default, really.

That's a lovely story. It (embarrassingly) didn't occur to me that anyone might *agree* with my decision about frames, I found something I liked, but I wasn't expecting there to be a consensus, let alone one that agreed with me :)
