It's a very weird feeling when you don't have email. Most of my email isn't strictly urgent, but it's a tremendous faff to catch up with everything if it genuinely goes away, between contacting everyone who might need to know the new address, and catching up on email I've missed in the meantime, and assuring people I wasn't ignoring them.

I thought that this morning, as I didn't have any email, and an email I sent to myself didn't arrive. But I was mistaken, I just genuinely didn't get any email. If I'd been replying to it at a decent rate, and hadn't had too much CTS faff to sort out, I could complain :)

I'm not sure what happened to my email to myself. It seemed that an email from gmail via cantab to gmail didn't work, but I couldn't recreate the problem.

Speaking of which, I checked my spam folder. In the last month I had 80 completely stupid junk to my (backend) gmail address; 3 stupid junk to my (real) cantab address; and 4 semi-solicited newsletters I didn't bother to unspam. And AFAICR no other false positives and only a few false negatives.

I'm pleased how well my cantab address holds up :)

Though what I'd really like is for gmail to seperate out spam to the two accounts. Nothing *should* be sent to gmail, so I don't mind relegating penis enlargments sent there to the least level of scrutiny. It's just about worth checking spam to cantab, though. Unfortunately, gmail doesn't seem set up to handle this. Maybe I'll move on eventually.

God: I am always glad to make new friends, Cartesan Daemon.
Me: I'm a skeptic
God: You are a skeptic? Does it pay well?
Me: Why?
God: I couldn't think of anything else to say.
