Some people have lives told in Shakespearean style. Bleak house. Austen. Saki. Anything. I have sitcom. Oh well :)

This will be represented as a rapid sequence of scene cuts, as I move from one bike shop to the other. Some humour will be evinced in repetition, some in breaking the repetition.

** 'blinds' transition **
Me: I see you have a selection. What's the difference between this £100 bike, and this £130 bike?
Him: *gormless look* It costs more. It has a, uuuhh, *looks at bike* better frame. And different coloured gears.
** 'blinds' transition **
Me: So, do you have any bikes less tall than I am for under £230 pounds?
Him: No.
** 'blinds' transition **
Me: I'm looking for a town bike?
Him: *shocked look*
** 'blinds' transition **
Me: I'm looking for a bike?
Him: I'm sorry sir, this is a hardware store.
** 'blinds' transition **
Me: Two all-beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun.
Him: I'm sorry sir, this is subway.
** series of shots of me muching through a sandwich looking tired **
** 'blinds' transition **
Me: I'm looking for a town bike?
** long pan down ten meter long row of off-road bikes costing £300 **
** 'blinds' transition **
Me: I'm looking for a town bike?
Him: Why are you late for work?
Me: Well, I was *going* to ride in...

*sigh* And all those 0.14s transitions took me half an hour of walking. At least I had a book and a plot to write. But I'm 5'10 or 5'11, I'm not *that* short.

I thought it might be as easy as last time. Where else should I go?

What are your top twenty tags? Do they accurately represent your life?

The regularly used ones are life, meme, invitation, wittering, gakked, whine, review, introspection, rant and work. These will overtake the one-offs as I lj for longer.

What do you use? Is meta different to lj[1]? Should wittering be 'thoughts', 'witterings', 'random', 'stream-of-consciousness' or what?

[1] OK, *here* it is, but will I ever use it again?

The Darth advert was good. All the others were funny once, and then annoying when you have to watch them again (though still good, but annoying).

I don't normally post feminist rants. I'm used to tbe background level of bad assumptions, most people I interect with are so non-bigoted it hurts (except against chavs), the law's moved on, probably the most important tasks are painfully larting individual misogynists in positions of power, and raising the next generation right.

But sometimes, I just happen to get annoyed. Has the woman in the orange adverts said *anything*, *ever*?

See: http://www.absurdnotions.org/page1.html

I decided to collate a list of webcomics I like, or used to like, with a few comments about each. Impossible to sort, I decided to find some favorites and sort them alphabetically.

First is Absurd Notions. Realistic description of the lives of four or five friends living in an aprtment. Warren is the complete sysadmin, occasionally spokesperson for the strip, who I tend to identify with. Isaac is a geek. Jay is an artist and a practical joker. Biff is the nice but abused one. Jag is Jay's girlfriend, and probably the nearest thing to a sane character.

As always with favorite strips I come to like the characters; they eventually start roleplaying and have much player/character humour; much humour comes from naturally funny/sarcastic things said rather than blatant punchlines.

It's basically stopped now, though every so often a new comic appears. But it's well worth reading through the archive. The first few cartoons (linked to) are fairly representative and a good introduction.

Tune in next time to read about angst technology.

Apologies about the aborted firefly watching. There *will* be one.

However, I now have ingredients and psychological commitment to cooking to use up. So, in the absense of any better offers for that evening, I will invite people for dinner on saturday (7.00ish) and mystery dvds[1] or boardgames[2].

Who's interested?

[1] Eg. Ultraviolet or Crime Traveller borrowed from someone, Firefly pilot for anyone who hasn't seen it at all, violent or romantic films
[2] Articulate, twister, chess, or whatever people bring.
